This is probably the best spot I've found so far in Indianapolis. Don't have a car? Great, ride your bike down the Monon Trail and just pull off. Have a car? Even better, plenty of street parking to the west.

Grass can get pretty high so bring a launch pad just in case you can't find a decent spot.

Also there are some pretty fun tubes nearby to fly through, although they are fairly close to the trail so if you fly through them use caution.

Every time I've been at this spot NO ONE walked off the trail into the field. But this spot is connected to probably the most popular trail in the state so foot traffic certainly could vary. As for safety, while this is adjacent to some industrial parks and fairly close to the State Fairgrounds there is also a very nice neighborhood to the west. I feel very safe in this spot which I wasn't sure of the first time I visited.
